Equipping Parishioners to be Lay Apostles!
Today I had an opportunity to give a speech to a group of parishioners from Divine Mercy Catholic Church in Faribault, Minnesota. They gathered for a Called and Gifted seminar, each seeking to discern their spiritual gifts and calling to do God's work. So the story of how I was called to launch LoveToBeCatholic.com was very relevant. I love to tell my vocation story and hope that by doing so others might find inspiration to discern their own calling. After all, I am living proof of how discerning one's charism can change a life.
It was a great group and a welcoming, warm reception. At the end of my testimony a few of those in attendance even gave me a standing ovation. Wow, that was a first. Wasn't sure how to react, other than to look down at my shoes and blush a bit.
The Called and Gifted seminar in a great idea. We all have received gifts, through Baptism and Confirmation, for the ways God intends his love to reach others through us. This seminar helps people discover these gifts! I hope these types of programs become widespread. I believe that many lay men and women want do more, but do not quite known how to discern God's call. This weekend, a group of wonderful and dedicated Catholics in Faribault, Minnesota are sacrificing their time with family to figure it out. God bless them.
